JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The condition of homelessness, as a social determinant of health, is a preventable public health issue. The Housing Services Officer will be responsible for providing oversight to the City's response to mitigate housing instability which may lead to homelessness and the day-to-day operations of plans and activities necessary to promote temporary and permanent housing opportunities to end homelessness for individuals and families. This position will develop strategic plans in collaboration with leadership at the federal, state and local level using a systems approach with public and private partnerships to implement activities to achieve the goal of improving initiatives that address housing stability and reduce homelessness through the development of policies, programs and securing of resources. The Housing Services Officer will work directly with City Directors and Department Heads and maintain effective working relationships with the Mayor, Board of Aldermen and the Board of Health. This position will employ the values of equity and inclusion while actively interfacing with property owners, building management companies, businesses, non-profit organizations, faith-based institutions and the private sector to identify and secure supportive, affordable and permanent housing for those in need. This is a full-time 40 hours per week Unaffiliated position, with a varying work schedule, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 18, with hourly rate not to exceed $47.1582.
