Job Title: Houseperson / Light Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:
The Houseperson / Light Maintenance Technician supports the overall cleaniness, functionality, and presentation of the hotel. This position is responsible for public area upkeep, light maintenance tasks, and assisting with meeting and event space setup to ensure exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands on, detail oriented, and responsive to operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of public areas including lobby, hallways, restrooms, meeting rooms, and back of house areas
- Assist housekeeping team with linen delivery, trash removal, and supply restocking
- Clean and maintain floors (Vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, carpet care)
- Remove debris and maintain exterior entryways as needed
- Respond promptly to guest and management requests
Light Maintenance Duties:
- Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, tightening fixtures, and basic plumbing repairs (e.g., unclogging drains)
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks
- Report maintenance issues requiring advanced repair to management
- Ensure tools and maintenance areas are kept organized and safe
- Follow all safety procedures and hotel policies
Meeting & Event Setup:
- Set up and break down meeting rooms according to event specifications (tables, chairs, linens, podiums, audiovisual equipment)
- Ensure meeting spaces are clean, organized, and ready prior to event start times
- Adjust room setups as requested by event coordinators
- Assist with moving and arranging furniture as needed
- Maintain storage areas for tables, chairs, and equipment
Qualifications:
- Previous hotel, housekeeping, or maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and general repair tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Ability to mave tables, chairs, and equipment safely
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors as needed
Work Environment:
- Fast paced hospitality setting
- Interaction with guests and team members daily
- May require early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays
