Job Summary

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! This position is located at MCAS YUMA, AZ. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a HOUSEKEEPER (LAKE MARTINEZ).

Major Duties

Major Duties: Makes beds, changes sheets, towels, and other linens. Thoroughly cleans guest room to include dusting, waxing and polishing furniture, sweeping floors, vacuuming and shampooing rugs, emptying ashtrays and wastebaskets, and sanitizing lavatories. Using a ladder, washes walls and windows and dusts drapes and blinds. Turns mattresses, sanitizes all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant, and services each room daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc. Reports missing or broken articles to supervisor. Occasionally scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Washes and replaces Venetian blinds. Washes ceiling fixtures. Moves heavy furniture.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of carpets and furniture. Ability to handle and control heavy powered equipment. Knowledge of proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and ability to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces. Ability to read and understand directions on labels and printed instructions.

Responsibility: Supervisor provides general direction on common and recurring duties and incumbent performs these duties independently. Specific and detailed instructions are provided on new or complex assignments. Work is spot checked to adherence to instructions, completeness, quantity and quality.

Physical Effort: Work requires constant standing, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting of objects. Climbs ladders and operates industrial equipment. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

Working Conditions: Work is normally performed indoors under normal conditions. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment, strong odors and skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions.

STEP 3 ¿ Military Spousal Preference may be requested for positions NF-3 and below, Crafts and Trades (NA, NL, NS), and Child & Youth (CY) positions. Spouses must meet the minimum qualifications posted in the job announcement. Spouse preference eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor¿s reporting date to the new duty location. Spousal Preference applicants hired in a flexible position will not lose their spousal preference eligibility until converted or hired into a regular full-time or part-time position or is within a 60 day period of receiving new PCS Orders. Military spouses shall receive MSP for each PCS move until such time as they accept or decline a continuing position.

If the spouse is not listed on the PCS orders, the spouse must provide documentation (i.e. marriage certificate, valid military ID, etc.) verifying marriage prior to PCS orders (must have been married to the military sponsor before relocation to the new duty station).
