Job Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital. This role supports infection prevention efforts by cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, and other hospital spaces in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, hallways, waiting areas, offices, and other assigned hospital areas.
Follow infection prevention and isolation cleaning protocols.
Empty trash and biohazard waste containers and replace liners.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
Restock housekeeping supplies and maintain cleaning equipment.
Respond promptly to room turnover requests to prepare patient rooms for new admissions.
Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals according to hospital policies.
Report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Provide courteous and professional service to patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or hospital EVS experience preferred but not always required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 35 50 pounds.
Push and pull cleaning carts and equipment.
Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids while wearing appropriate PPE.
Preferred Experience
Hospital or healthcare environmental services experience.
Knowledge of infection prevention and terminal cleaning procedures.A
