We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) House Supervisor to provide clinical leadership, support nursing operations, and help ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Position Summary

The House Supervisor provides operational and clinical leadership for the Nursing Department during assigned shifts. Working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this role oversees nursing operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and clinical quality while serving as the on-site nursing administrator.

The House Supervisor acts as a clinical resource for staff, promotes a positive work environment, and ensures that patient care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure nursing care is delivered in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the on-site nursing administrator and clinical resource.
  • Round regularly throughout the hospital to support staff and monitor patient care.
  • Promote a safe, therapeutic environment that protects patient rights and dignity.
  • Support patient advocacy initiatives and address patient care concerns promptly.

Operations & Patient Care

  • Monitor staffing levels and adjust assignments based on patient census and acuity.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and staffing coverage during emergencies.
  • Participate in admissions by completing nurse-to-nurse reports, coordinating physician communication, and obtaining admission orders as needed.
  • Review medical records to ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Complete required documentation related to patient observations, restraints, seclusion, and one-to-one monitoring.
  • Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies while ensuring appropriate interventions are implemented.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor adherence to infection prevention, safety, risk management, and patient rights standards.
  • Investigate incidents, complete occurrence reports, implement corrective actions, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities.

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and orienting new nursing staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and clinical education to nursing team members.
  • Identify educational needs and coordinate in-service training.
  • Foster teamwork, employee engagement, and professional development.
  • Support performance evaluations and ongoing competency development.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in an inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric hospital.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing management or supervisory experience.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Handle With Care or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
