Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation

Proposed Schedule:

This role is designed to align with the days all children from our blended family are together in the home. Consistency mid-week is most important, with some flexibility built in.

School-Year Schedule (Ideal):

  • Tuesday: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM (flexible hours)
  • Wednesday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Thursday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

Ideal availability is Wednesday–Friday, with a shorter Tuesday shift.

Summer Schedule (Increased Hours):

During the summer months, the role ideally expands to full-time coverage Wednesday–Friday, with additional responsibilities including:

  • Camp and activity drop-offs and pick-ups
  • Increased driving and logistical support
  • More hands-on daytime support while children are home

About Our Family:

We're a big, warm, blended family with seven kids — five girls and two boys — ranging from middle schoolers to high school seniors at home (with our two oldest already launched). Our home is lively, full of movement, and grounded in routines that help everything run smoothly. Both parents work full-time, and Dad travels internationally for work, so having steady, reliable support at home is essential for our family.

We're very organized by nature and value clear systems, communication, and teamwork. We're looking for someone who enjoys helping maintain and strengthen that organization — keeping schedules on track, coordinating transportation, and jumping in with homework or after-school activities when needed — so that when we're together, we can truly enjoy family time without the stress of daily logistics. We hope to find someone who feels like a trusted extension of our household. You'll also be welcomed by our sweet, playful Cavapoo, who is very much part of the family.

Who You Are / What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly Organized: Organization is key to helping us maintain balance in our busy home. You will be expected to help with maintaining systems for everything from laundry to schedules and pantry organization.
  • Proactive and Independent: We need someone who can anticipate needs and take action without constant direction. You should be self-motivated and able to manage tasks independently.
  • Communicative: Strong communication is important to us. You should be comfortable coordinating with multiple family members, scheduling appointments, and ensuring everyone stays on track.
  • Flexible and Adaptable: Our family life can change quickly, so flexibility is essential. You will need to adjust plans and schedules as needed while staying organized and positive.
  • Child and Pet-Friendly: Our family values someone who enjoys spending time with older kids and pets, and who is comfortable helping with both. We are looking for someone who is patient, kind, and ready to be a positive presence in our children's lives.
  • Solution-Oriented: We value someone who approaches challenges with a positive attitude and is always looking for practical solutions. Being calm under pressure and thinking on your feet will be important in this role.
  • Team-Oriented: We're a team, and we want someone who can collaborate effectively with both parents and kids to keep everything running smoothly.

Core Responsibilities:

Household Operations & Organization

  • Maintain and refine household organization systems (closets, kids' rooms, pantry, storage areas)
  • Handle daily resets and tidiness; ensure the home is prepped for cleaning services
  • Manage family calendars and schedules, with a focus on school, sports, and activities
  • Coordinate logistics across multiple kids, seasons, and commitments
  • Prepare seasonal activity lists and help plan ahead for busy periods
  • Assist with holiday preparation, decorations, and seasonal transitions
  • Coordinate with and oversee household service providers (cleaners, landscapers, handymen)
  • Track and schedule routine home maintenance (e.g., laundry vent cleaning, carpet/upholstery care)

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, beverage fridge, toiletries, and household supplies
  • Create and manage household supply lists and handle online orders
  • Run errands like grocery shopping, prescription pick-ups, returns, and gift shopping
  • Track, purchase, and warp birthday and holiday gifts

Meal Planning & Preparation

  • Plan and prepare two dinners a week for the family (Wednesday and Thursday)
  • Shop for groceries based on meals for the week, as well as keeping the refrigerator and pantry stocked with weekly staples
  • Clean and maintain kitchen organization post-prep and overall tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Assist with laundry for kids (clothes, bedding, towels), washing, drying, folding, and organizing
  • Rotate bedding, refresh towels, and manage linens weekly
  • Maintain tidy laundry areas, ensuring they are well-stocked with necessary supplies

Pet Care

  • Assist with light pet care, including walks, as needed
  • Schedule and execute vet appointments (allergy shot every 8 weeks) and grooming (pick-up and drop-off)

Vehicle & Property Management

  • Schedule and oversee vehicle maintenance (oil changes, inspections) for 4 vehicles
  • Oversee property-specific systems, including scheduling annual maintenance for HVAC, air filter changes, and irrigation

Family & Child Support

  • Provide ad-hoc transportation for school, sports, and activities
  • Schedule and manage school, medical, dental, and orthodontist appointments
  • Offer occasional homework or after-school support as needed
  • Support older children with logistics such as care packages and special needs while away at school

Special Projects & Deep-Clean Support

  • Tackle periodic deep-clean projects (fridge, pantry, oven, baseboards, bonus room)
  • Maintain and refresh high-traffic or seasonal zones (entryway, mudroom, garage, pool porch)
  • Sweep and organize garage as needed
  • Support annual and seasonal projects, including:
    • Graduation party planning (May)
    • Family photo scheduling (1x/year)
    • Holiday and event hosting support
