ECU Office of Global Affairs is currently seeking an International Student Engagement Assistant.

Are you passionate about international cultures and eager to

support global education?

Join the International Enrollment & Engagement team in the Office

of Global Affairs to help create meaningful experiences for ECU's

international students while developing leadership, event

planning, and professional skills that employers value.

THE SCHEDULE

  • Hours average 8-10 per week, but may increase to 20 hours

during International Student Orientation week and other peak

programming periods.

  • Must be available for designated Friday events (1-2 Fridays per

month) from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

  • Must be available one Saturday per month for excursions and

special programs.

  • Additional evening hours may be required for select events

throughout the semester.

  • Preference will be given to students who can commit to the full

academic year (anticipated employment dates: August 10, 2026 -

May 15, 2027).

  • Students are encouraged to remain available for up to 20 hours

during the week following the end of the semester to support the

International Student Welcome Pack Production Week.

DUTIES

Event Coordination (75%)

  • Manage the monthly Global Gathering event.
  • Assist in one-time events and activities, including airport

shuttles, the welcome cookout, excursions, and seasonal

activities.

  • Coordinate event logistics, including inventory, materials, room

setup, signage, and event setup/breakdown.

  • Collect participant feedback and conduct event assessment.
  • Drive the Office of Global Affairs van for approved activities.
  • Assist with International Student Welcome Pack Production

Week, including receiving, cleaning/washing, organizing,

documenting, and preparing donated residence hall items.

Communications (25%)

  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the IEE suite.
  • Write and publish the Weekly Updates for the International

Student Hub.

  • Build relationships with campus affinity organizations to

promote International Enrollment & Engagement programs.

  • Send event communications to international students, clubs,

and other engaged connections.

  • Attend selected conferences and workshops, supporting the

area's mission and student success.

  • Create documentation and a worker manual for future student

employees.

GPA Requirement Minimum of 3.0 Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.) License/certification required

REQUIRED SKILLS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Engagement & Communications

  • Interest in international education, student engagement, and

event programming.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

with a customer service mindset.

  • Ability to build a welcoming environment and sense of

belonging for students from a multitude of cultural backgrounds.

  • Comfortable engaging with large groups and varied audiences.

Event Execution

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple

priorities and work independently.

  • Detail-oriented with sound critical thinking and problem-solving

skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel for tracking and

organizing information.

  • Valid US driver's license (or ability to obtain one) and ability to

meet university driving requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in intercultural

communication.

  • Interest or experience in event planning, hospitality, or project

management.

  • Experience in leadership, teamwork, or student organization

involvement.

  • Experience with Canva or similar design software.
