Pay: $18.75–$24.00 / hour

Schedule: Full-time. Shift times are set by store scheduling and may include weekends and holidays.

About the Role
The Hot Deli department is where a lot of our customers decide whether they're coming back. As a Hot Deli Clerk, you'll prep and handle fresh food, keep the department clean and well-stocked, and help customers find what they came in for. It's hands-on, fast-moving work in a busy store, and it matters to the people who shop with us every day.

A Note on the Work
This is an active, on-your-feet job. You'll stand for most of your shift, work around hot equipment and cold storage, use cutting and labeling tools, and lift 30 lbs or more (with the right equipment). If you like staying busy and working with your hands, you'll do well here.

What You'll Do

• Prepare food items — washing, cutting, weighing, and other prep as needed
• Move stock, supplies, and ingredients to and from cold and dry storage
• Rotate product by expiration date so older items sell first and shelves stay fresh
• Keep the food-production area clean — counters, floors, hood filters, and equipment — and handle dishwashing and sanitation
• Follow food-safety practices and OSHA guidelines, including safe use of dishwashing chemicals
• Handle expired and recalled products correctly and keep accurate logs
• Set up and take down promotional displays, and keep refrigerators stocked with shelf tags labeled correctly
• Help customers with their orders and answer their questions
• Run the register and complete checkout accurately when needed

Required

• Able to stand for extended periods and lift 30 lbs or more with appropriate equipment
• Able to follow food-safety instructions and department procedures
• Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred

• Previous kitchen, culinary, deli, restaurant, or customer-service experience
• Working knowledge of the types of ingredients, vegetables, and meats carried in a grocery deli
• Familiarity with CAL-OSHA safety practices for handling dishwashing chemicals
• Bilingual in English plus Spanish, Mandarin/Cantonese, or Vietnamese (a plus — not required)
