The Host – Cielo is responsible for warmly welcoming guests and ensuring a smooth, professional, and elegant dining experience from arrival to departure. This position manages seating assignments, maintains cleanliness in front-of-house areas, and supports service operations as needed. As the first point of contact, the Host sets the tone for exceptional guest service in Cielo’s fine dining environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets guests promptly and courteously upon arrival, confirms reservation details (if applicable), and escorts them to assigned tables while maintaining a polished and professional demeanor.
- Manages the host stand and waiting list, monitors table availability, and coordinates seating to balance server workloads, optimize guest flow, and prioritize VIPs or special requests.
- Monitors the dining room and guest waiting areas to anticipate guest needs, manage traffic flow, and ensure a welcoming, professional atmosphere at all times.
- Communicates effectively with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff to manage table status, reservation timing, and service readiness.
- Assists in clearing, bussing, and resetting tables during peak periods to maintain cleanliness, efficiency, and smooth guest turnover.
- Prepares, organizes, and restocks front-of-house supplies — including menus, silverware, condiments, and guest service items — to ensure operational readiness throughout the shift.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the host stand, waiting areas, and surrounding front-of-house spaces to uphold presentation and safety standards.
- Responds promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, special requests, or seating concerns, resolving issues with courtesy and discretion.
- Adheres to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including proper upkeep of the host station and public areas.
- Performs opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned by management, such as preparing reservation books, updating floor plans, and completing end-of-shift tasks.
- Verifies guest identification to ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and adheres to all ABC regulations, RBS training standards, and internal policies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support efficient operations and enhance the guest experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to remain calm and courteous in a high-paced environment.
- Strong guest service orientation and ability to resolve guest concerns promptly.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and management.
- Prior experience in hosting, guest service, or cashiering preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Additional coursework in hospitality, communications, or customer service is a plus.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a host or in a guest service role, preferably in an upscale or fine dining environment.
- Experience managing reservations, seating charts, and guest flow using reservation software or systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a polished, professional demeanor.
- Proven ability to create a welcoming atmosphere and resolve guest concerns promptly.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
- Prior experience in a resort, casino, or luxury dining venue is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

- Working Conditions: Routinely works in a refined, high-volume restaurant environment with exposure to constant guest interaction, background noise, and varied lighting. Regular exposure to a smoking environment when transitioning through casino or public areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
