Job Description Summary
Forsyth Technical Community College seeks a proactive, driven, and highly detail-oriented Hospitality & Events Coordinator to oversee all events across the college. This includes conferences, meetings, receptions, graduations, and other special events.
This role calls for someone who takes real pride in their work and approaches every task with care, precision, and follow-through. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable presenting in a boardroom as they are handling the physical demands of event setup-someone who will step in wherever needed, whether that means leading a high-level planning meeting or carrying an A-frame sign up a flight of stairs to ensure everything is in place.
The Coordinator will play a central role in planning and executing successful events, managing event staff, delivering a high level of service, and supporting revenue growth through thoughtful sales and marketing efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Hospitality or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event planning, management, sales or marketing, preferably across a wide range of event types.
- Demonstrated ability to support revenue growth through sales and marketing efforts.
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple events and complex logistics without missing key elements.
- A strong work ethic and a clear sense of ownership over outcomes, from early planning through final breakdown.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a systems-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Experience working in a college or conference center environment.
- Experience managing both internal and external clients.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate and oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of all events across campus venues, ensuring each event is well-organized and thoughtfully delivered.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service, with close attention to client needs and expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and college policies throughout the event process.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors.
- Create, manage, and adjust event budgets, tracking expenses and outcomes.
- Work closely with internal teams such as catering, audio/visual, security, and IT to support event needs.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify ways to improve.
- Stay current with industry trends and apply new ideas where appropriate.
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to increase event bookings and support revenue through the on-campus conference center.
- Step in as needed to support event setup, execution, and breakdown, including hands-on tasks that ensure events run smoothly.
The Hospitality & Events Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the visibility and success of Forsyth Tech through well-executed events. This position is suited for someone who works hard, pays attention to the small details, and takes pride in seeing every event through from start to finish.
