Overview

The Quality Data Analyst is responsible for quality data abstraction activities of the Quality and Infection Prevention department. This position is responsible for collection, management, interpretation and display of data related to core measures and other quality metrics. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data essential for quality improvement and healthcare decision-making. Assists in validation of data from multiple sources. Coordinates reporting of data and information received by physicians, leaders and other partners. The Quality Data Analyst deals with confidential information. May be required to work overtime during peak periods. Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule: 30 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7am start time and variable end time.

Shift: Days

Location: Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center - Janesville, WI

*Primary location will be in Janesville, WI for training. There is potential to work out of other additional locations after training period.

Pay Range: $24.12/hr - $37.39/hr
 

EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities 

  • Collectsdatafromtheelectronicmedicalrecordwhile adhering to established guidelines and specifications 

  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of abstracted data through thorough validation and verification processes 

  • Enters abstracted data into databases and maintainsaccurate records of collected information 

  • Reportsdatatosupportimprovementefforts. 

  • Reviewsqualitydataandinformationtoprovidevalidationandworkswithstakeholderstorefinereportinganddatacapture. 

  • Monitorsandinterpretschangestoreportedmeasures,datadefinitionsandtherelatedimpacttoclinicalcareprocesses. 

  • Ensuresthatpubliclyreporteddataissubmittedthroughpropertransmissioninatimelyandcompliantmanner. 

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and contributes to enhancing data abstraction procedures 

EducationandExperience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related field preferred; Associate'sdegree(A.A.)is.

  • At least two years' experience working in a healthcare setting is .

  • Successful completion of medical terminology course is preferred.

  • Advanced experience with Excel spreadsheets, including formulas and graphing is required.

  • Experience with Access or SQL database management, including detailed database creation and maintenance and problem solving, is preferred. 

 

 Skillsand Abilities 

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical documentation and healthcare procedures. 

  • Previous experience in clinical data abstraction or a related role is preferred. 

  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and data management tools 

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain data accuracy 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines 

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
