A Hospital Laboratory Director opportunity is available in Chattanooga, TN, supporting a hospital-based rapid-response laboratory that is part of a broad network serving more than 250 acute and rehabilitation hospitals, physician practices, and surgery centers.

The role. The Laboratory Director has full operational accountability for the hospital laboratory, overseeing staffing, financial performance, and regulatory compliance across the department. This leader sets and executes department strategy to meet quality, service, and fiscal goals, while preparing monthly operating review reports and managing resource utilization. The Director ensures ongoing compliance with CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS standards, develops and reviews all departmental policies and procedures, and manages key vendor and supply-chain relationships. A strong coaching orientation is central to the position — the Director builds staff capability through regular feedback, delegation, and on-the-job development, and fosters a culture of open communication throughout the laboratory.

What we're looking for.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • National certification as a Medical Technologist required
  • Active Tennessee state laboratory license required
  • 3 or more years of progressive laboratory management experience in complex laboratory operations required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience required
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination required per applicable local, state, and/or federal law or regulations (medical or religious exemptions considered)
