AuthoraCare Collective is currently seeking a Hospital Account Specialist supporting Durham County. This is a full-time position Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends and willingness to travel to locations in the community.

Job Summary:

The Hospital Account Specialist is responsible for sales, marketing, and relationship-building with hospital staff to increase referrals and market growth. This role focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with discharge planners, case managers, department heads, hospital-based ambulatory clinics and cancer centers to ensure smooth and timely access to AuthoraCare's programs and services.

The specialist will actively promote AuthoraCare's continuum of services, including hospice, palliative care, HBPC, and GUIDE with companion home health, through direct sales efforts, educational initiatives, and public presentations.

The Hospital Account Specialist will establish strong connections with clinic and cancer center staff, providing education on AuthoraCare's services, and identifying opportunities to integrate these services into the clinics' and cancer centers' patient care plans. This includes conducting regular visits to ambulatory clinics and cancer centers, presenting at staff meetings, and collaborating with clinic and cancer center administrators to streamline referral processes and enhance patient outcomes.

Additionally, the specialist will engage with the hospital liaison partner to leverage their clinical expertise, ensuring that all educational, patient and family follow up, and promotional activities are clinically accurate and relevant.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent medical sales experience of a minimum of five years, with at least two years in healthcare.
  • RN, LPN, or SW degree is a plus.
  • Three to five years of experience in healthcare sales or marketing, with a preference for experience in home care, hospice, long-term care, or physician relations.
  • Other: Valid state-issued driver's license required. Must carry automobile liability insurance at limits required by agency. Must have own transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture relationships with discharge planners, case managers, and department heads to facilitate referrals.
  • Education: Educate hospital staff about AuthoraCare's continuum of services, including hospice, palliative care, HBPC, and GUIDE with companion home health.
  • Patient and Family Interaction: Meet newly referred patients and their families, ensuring a smooth handover to the Hospital Liaison.
  • Barrier Identification: Identify and collaboratively address barriers to referrals to enhance service accessibility.
  • Sales and Marketing: Promote AuthoraCare services through direct sales efforts, marketing initiatives, and public presentations and position the organization's services as a solution.
  • Data Utilization: Use market analytics and data to monitor hospital penetration and optimize referral strategies.
  • Feedback and Reporting: Provide regular feedback on market trends, referral patterns, and customer service needs to the business development team.
  • Daily Meetings: Attend daily hospital progression meetings, as appropriate and permitted.
