Position Summary

The Home Delivery Supervisor position at St. Mary’s Food Bank leads the development and supervision of a specialized logistics team to support the strategic execution of SMFB’s Home Delivery Program through onboarding, coaching, and streamlined operational processes. The incumbent in this role also manages delivery logistics, partner relationships, compliance tracking, and cross-department coordination to ensure efficient performance, data accuracy, and continuous program improvement.

Essential Functions

Team Development & Process Implementation

  • Partner with Manager to execute new team structures, including hiring, onboarding, and SOP/tool development.
  • Create and implement workflow SOPs (e.g., delivery preparation, staging, return processes).
  • Lead the design and rollout of a new call monitoring model and client communication processes.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to SOPs and provide coaching and retraining as needed.
  • Foster a strengths-based, collaborative team culture with clear communication channels.
  • Guide team alignment with broader organizational strategies and interdepartmental workflows.

Supervision & Training

  • Supervise logistics associates and customer service reps (CSRs); manage daily and off-site coverage schedules.
  • Design and deliver role-specific training for logistics and CSR teams (e.g., food handling, de-escalation, crisis calls).
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching to provide feedback and support skill development.
  • Develop SOPs and training materials for key logistics functions (e.g., staging orders, loading, delivery returns).
  • Work with Marketing to create multilingual delivery tip sheets for contracted drivers (e.g., DoorDash, Hungry).

Operational Oversight & Improvement

  • Track and report on program metrics (e.g., delivery completion rates, provider performance, cost analysis).
  • Recommend or implement workflow improvements to enhance service quality and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse/Ops to streamline logistics and delivery processes.
  • Liaise between Operations, Transportation, Volunteer Engagement, and other internal teams to resolve delivery-related issues and secure necessary support (e.g., volunteers).
  • Support budget-conscious decision-making related to overtime, training, and operational tools.

Program Enhancement

  • Help improve the Home Delivery food menu to increase nutritional value and variety.
  • Serve as a key driver of client satisfaction and operational excellence in the delivery ecosystem.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all internal/external customers of St. Mary’s Food Bank with an excellent service experience.

Scope and Complexity

May interact with all levels of leadership, employees, agency representatives, community neighbors, volunteers, external vendors, and clients.

Physical Demands/Environment Factors

  • May be required to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Requires significant use of personal computer, phone and general office equipment.
  • Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person, electronically or on telephone.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years minimum work-related experience
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated success directly managing employees
  • Strong organization skills, accurate, and detail-oriented
  • Strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently to establish and manage work priorities, activities and timelines to achieve results
  • Exhibits sound judgment and swift decision-making skills

  • Ability to think creatively and come up with solutions
  • Ability to critically review, summarize, and report findings and recommendations
  • PC skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft environment and the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in a meaningful way. Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous food distribution and non-profit work experience
  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role
