HMI‑Guided Glass Fabrication Operator (Furnace • Cutline)

At Carlex, we’re adding skilled professionals to our 12‑hour night shift (3‑2‑2‑3 rotation) in two areas: Cattin Furnace Bending and Cutline/Paintroom. If you have 2+ years of experience and a passion for process control, let’s talk.

Where you’ll contribute

Cattin Furnace Bending

  • Run glass bending operations using defined Cattin parameters; perform parameter checks and spot breaker issues
  • Leverage HMI and IP gages to interpret trends and furnace heat activity
  • Complete routine verifications: part quality, gaging, sag mapping, xenon light distortion checks
  • Anticipate convex issues and make proactive corrections
  • Coordinate closely with the Paint Room Operator to maintain flow from Cutting to Bending
  • Own changeovers; apply the link between windshield design and bending fixtures

Cutline/Paintroom

  • Locate screens, read/tape stencils, and ready screens using booting and inspection
  • Select correct paint; mix materials; verify viscosity
  • Operate panel views and use the Kurt system for process control adjustments
  • Load programs from disk to grinders and cutters; assist with changeovers
  • Troubleshoot with support once the process is running
  • Change cutting wheels and springs; set up cups on the vacuum table
  • Measure/adjust coolant levels; understand washer functions
  • Change grinding wheels on all grinders

What you bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years of operator experience
  • Some computer knowledge
  • Understands PPE and the purpose of lockouts and e-stops
  • Reliable attendance, teachable attitude, strong work ethic
  • Clear, proactive communication with upstream processes
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

Physical realities of the job

  • Lift and regularly carry 45–50 lbs; occasionally carry a 45–50 lb windshield 5–10 feet
  • Raise/move objects between positions; repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement
  • Repetitive twisting and bending (upper and lower body)
  • Stand on concrete for long periods
  • Work in extreme heat and humidity

Schedule and overtime

12‑hour rotating night shift (3‑2‑2‑3). Overtime as required by workload or projects, including weekends and holidays.
