Position Title: Histotechnician
Work Location: Ridgefield, CT 06877
Assignment Duration: 12 Months
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Note: Looking for at least 2 years FFPE tissue sectioning (experience with skin required), embedding tissues (also in TMAs), processing tissues.
Position Summary :
- Tissue fixation, processing, and embedding of biological specimens.
- Sectioning tissues using microtomy techniques to prepare high-quality slides.
Background & Context :
- Supporting ongoing research projects and collaborating with pathologists within our organization's laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Tissue fixation, processing, and embedding of biological specimens
- Sectioning tissues using microtomy techniques to prepare high-quality slides
- Performing routine, special staining, and IHC/IF procedures
- Whole slide scanning
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Ensuring quality control and accurate documentation of laboratory procedures
- Collaborating with pathologists and research scientists to support ongoing projects
Qualification & Experience :
- Microtomy skill
- Experience with FFPE tissue block sectioning
- Bachelors degree in histotechnology or a related field
- ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL), or eligibility to obtain certification
- Proficiency in microtomy, tissue processing, embedding, and staining techniques
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance
- Exceptional attention to detail, manual dexterity, and organizational skills
- Excellent time-management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory environment
