Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Histology Technician to support high-quality diagnostic testing in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment. This role is responsible for preparing tissue specimens for routine H&E and special stain procedures, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, demonstrates strong technical and troubleshooting skills, and thrives in a collaborative healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and embed tissue specimens and perform microtomy for routine H&E and special stain procedures
  • Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment, including documenting scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Recognize and troubleshoot issues related to tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to established laboratory protocols and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety practices, quality control standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Handle biological and chemical materials safely in accordance with established guidelines
  • Support efficient workflow in a high-volume laboratory environment
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy and security regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI)

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science and completion of a histotechnology program preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in histologic techniques or immunohistochemistry (IHC) required
  • Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred
  • State licensure, if applicable
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment with exposure to biological and chemical hazards

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience or training in a high-volume laboratory setting
  • Documented experience with special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to histology processes
