HIM Coding Supervisor (Remote - U.S. Eligible States)
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00/hour
Job Type: Contract (Potential Contract-to-Hire)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced HIM Coding Supervisor to support a fully remote healthcare operations team. This role is responsible for overseeing coding quality, auditing processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting and guiding coding staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in inpatient and outpatient hospital coding who is ready to step into a leadership-focused role.
Key Responsibilities
Provide coding expertise and guidance to staff to ensure accurate diagnosis and procedural coding
Review medical records to validate correct selection of primary diagnoses, procedures, and comorbidities
Conduct regular audits and quality reviews of coding data to ensure compliance and accuracy
Develop and deliver education and training programs based on audit findings
Monitor coding accuracy and documentation quality; implement corrective actions as needed
Partner with internal teams to ensure adherence to coding standards, regulatory guidelines, and ethical practices
Identify and escalate compliance concerns appropriately
Assist in developing workflows to support timely and accurate completion of medical records
Support reporting, metrics tracking, and overall department performance monitoring
Qualifications
Minimum 4+ years of professional coding and billing experience (inpatient and outpatient hospital coding)
Supervisory, lead, or project management experience preferred
Strong understanding of coding guidelines, regulatory standards, and documentation requirements
Excellent communication, training, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Education & Certifications
High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
One of the following certifications is required:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Location
This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reside in one of the following states:
California, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Arizona, Florida, or West Virginia.
