Job Summary
Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of personnel of corporate functions in Health Information Management (HIM), results distribution, QA of EMR provider documentation, paper forms, release of information, eMPI, chart storage/retrieval, chart processing, and document imaging.
Responsibilities
- Serves as subject matter expert / resource for Oracle Health vChart EHR documentation structure, including domain note types, ESH hierarchy and folder structure, alignment of note type configuration with Clinical View Manager functionality, location hierarchy and security of orgs.
- Creation of transparency and trust.
- Plan, lead, organize, and implements workflows for the HIM department based on best practices, model workflows, etc.

- Collaborate with applicable departments in the ongoing building, testing, and maintenance of the electronic medical record.
- Plan the scope, emphasis, and objectives of assigned departmental programs, considering the needs of the hospital, medical staff, and support services.
- Direct and coordinate operations in accordance with accepted standards, policies, and/or laws established by: 1) CAMC; 2) local, state, and federal regulatory and licensing bodies; 3) professional associations; and 4) any/all applicable regulatory agencies
- Maintain a planned, organized, and uniform system of medical records that are documented in an accurate and timely manner, are readily accessible, and permit prompt retrieval of information, including statistical data.
- Responsible for the control of all departmental resources such as personnel, supplies, and facility space in the area assigned.
- Accountable for maximizing operational cost and time efficiency while maintaining effective quality services.
- Responsible for the selection, evaluation, promotion, discipline, and as necessary, the termination of assigned departmental employees.
- Accountable for developmental assistance of, and monitoring, of annual department revenue, expense, capital equipment, renovation, and personnel budgets.
- Promote the professional development/skills application of the staff through planned staff development programs and staff meetings. Encourage and approve staff attendance at educational meetings.
- Supervise HIM technical students in cooperation with colleges and technical schools as applicable.
- Maintain inter/intradepartmental employee working relationships. Collaborate with administrative, medical, nursing, and ancillary staff to provide optimum services by resolving problems and evaluating outcomes.

Education
- Bachelors Degree (Required) Four (4) years of progressive managerial experience in acute care Health Information Management Department setting. Additional: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT)
