The Clay County Highway Department is now accepting applications to be considered for an open position as a Full-Time Maintenance Worker.

 Starting Salary Range:  $24.43 - $27.87 per hour - Negotiable with experience and qualifications *If you have a valid CDL, you will start at $27.87 per hour.

Full Salary Range: $24.43-$33.86 per hour

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • One-year certification from a college or tech school in Heavy Equipment Operation; or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years previous work experience.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Ability to successfully complete a background investigation

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The listed examples may not include all the duties performed by all positions in this class.

  1. Operate heavy equipment including tandem axle end dumps, skid steers, front-end loaders and tractors to spread gravel, plow snow, load trucks and haul materials.
  2. Day to day inspection and routine repair of equipment.
  3. Maintain roads by patching holes, repairing shoulders and distributing liquid asphalt.
  4. Spray weeds, cut brush and trees near bridges and on the right of way in drift prone areas.
  5. Other duties as assigned.
