Job Responsibilities
At Lexington Maintenance, operates a 5 yard dump truck to haul pipe, debris, signs, and equipment to and from the job site. Picks up materials from vendor making sure all loose material is cleaned off truck and tarp is in place before operations. Performs preventive maintenance on truck and keeps record of the same. Drives defensively and in a courteous manner. Assists to operate a tandem dump truck to haul pipe, debris, signs, and equipment to and from the job site. Picks up materials from vendor making sure all loose material is cleaned off truck and tarp is in place before operations. Performs preventive maintenance on truck and keeps record of the same. Drives defensively and in a courteous manner. Works with the crew when pulling shoulders and cleaning drainage ditches. Works with a shovel, bush axe, and sling blade to clean out ditches, open clogged pipes and cuts right-of-way at sight areas. Removes and erects mail boxes and signs as necessary and restores disturbed areas. Flags traffic for the protection of crew and motoring public according to training and standards set. Wears proper attire while flagging. Assists in setting up traffic control devices and signing as set forth in the SC Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Assists to operate a backhoe to maintain ditches. Ensures preventive maintenance is performed and documented as required. Operates small to medium equipment as required or as necessary during hazardous weather or other emergencies to ensure the safety of the motoring public.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.

May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.
