The Presidio Trust is seeking a High Voltage Electrician Supervisor to join its Utility Department. Reporting to the Utilities Manager, the High Voltage Electrician Supervisor supervises, and coordinates activities of the high voltage electrician crew engaged in construction, maintenance, supply and repair of high voltage electric power, lighting, and related systems for buildings, residences, and roadways. Ensures high voltage electricity is managed and distributed in a clean, safe, and environmentally conscientious manner.
This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting pay range of $73.76 per hour to $78.18 per hour based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The starting base salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Applications received by June 29, 2026, will receive first consideration.
Responsibilities
- Plan and inspect wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, and fuse boxes, both in the field and in substations.
- Ability to operate and maintain electrical distribution system, both overhead and underground.
- Ability to establish valid electrical clearances for planned and unplanned electrical events.
- Ability to restore power in emergency unplanned events.
- Ability to write switch logs for planned and unplanned events.
- Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to manufacturer and code specifications.
- Provide production schedules scope of work and estimate to meet requirements for completion of job and project assignments. Estimate, requisitions, and inspect materials.
- Provide Project Management Services as required for Trust staff and Contractor performed work.
- Interpret Trust policies, regulations, and is responsible for communicating and enforcing safety regulations to subordinate workers.
- Interpret specifications, plans, drawings, and schematics to workers.
- Assign and issue work orders to staff. Establish and/or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and promote safety of shop, department, or crew.
- Analyze and resolve personnel issues.
- Initiate or suggest proposals to motivate workers and achieve goals.
- Ensure timekeeping and production records are accurate.
- Consult with other supervisors and departments to coordinate all high voltage activities as required.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises a team of up to five (5) full-time professionals and contractors as appropriate.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include providing feedback, coaching, and guiding professional development of individual staff members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; authorizing time off; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and as needed, interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ten (10) years of experience with increasing responsibility in high voltage system operation and maintenance, together with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; knowledge of applicable state and/or Federal policies, laws, and regulations affecting a full- service High Voltage Department activity.
- Experience should include supervision of municipal-type services.
- Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical manuals, procedures, diagrams, schedules, and governmental regulations; ability to write reports; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, residential and commercial tenants, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate requirements for installation, maintenance, and upgrades of electrical and high voltage systems.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Required to reside in the Presidio of San Francisco in government-provided housing and participate in the after-hours on-call program.
- Respond after-hours and weekends to emergency situations and unplanned events, such as power outages.
- Must have a valid State of California Driver’s License.
- Must possess a State of California Commercial Vehicle Driver’s License or obtain one within six months of employment.
