Duties

Help

Working as an High Voltage Electrician in the Office of Research Facilities (ORF), some of your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Dismantle, repair, and assemble asynchronous and induction motors, motor generators, protective relays, and high voltage circuit breakers.
  • Pull in conductor, assemble bus bars, phases out and connects conductors.
  • Perform emergency cut-outs and substitutions and power lines and equipment, sometimes working on distribution systems when they are energized.
  • Repair electrical auxiliary equipment in the boiler and refrigeration plants.
  • Install, repair, and maintain complex electric power generating and distributing equipment, trues commutators, and slip rings of rotary equipment.
  • Perform routine and advanced test procedures to enable testing of all devices and equipment on the system.

These positions are located in the Office of the Director (OD), Office of Research Facilities (ORF), Division of Technical Resources (DTR), Utilities Generation Branch (UGB).
