The School District of Shiocton is seeking a pool of candidates for a High School Special Education Teacher. This is a full-time position encompassing five days per week working with our high school aged students in Grades 9-12.

Candidates must be student-centered and fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be knowledgeable of Wisconsin's Learning Standards
  • Effectively utilize curriculum materials and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Participate in data driven professional learning in order to learn new practices that will improve student learning
  • Create a classroom environment resulting in high levels of learning and the personal growth of each student
  • Develop positive home/school relationships with diverse family structures
  • Utilize assessment data to document student progress and academic/functional skill achievement.
  • Provide timely written progress reports to parents/guardians and administration within the guidelines of the district practices including the writing of CCR- IEPs meeting legal requirements and standards
  • Work collaboratively with specialists, therapists, and teacher assistants by sharing knowledge, skills, and resources as a member of a supportive team
  • Be able to successfully work in self-contained and inclusive teaching environments
  • Knowledge and experience in the utilization of behavior management systems including conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments and designing Behavioral Intervention Plans
  • Demonstrate the willingness for professional growth
  • Trained or willing to be trained in NonViolent Crisis Intervention
