The LAUNCH Lead Teacher is a highly-qualified teacher responsible for developing and delivering specific daily directions to students, families, and teachers, for success each day in an online environment. The LAUNCH Lead Teacher provides instruction, support and guidance through clear communication to expedite the learning process for all stakeholders. Additionally, the LAUNCH Lead Teacher serves as a member of the school leadership team while mentoring teachers and supporting Virtual Academy (VA) efforts to improve student performance and ensure success in state accountability in year one.

Essential Functions: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.   • Functions as a member of the school leadership team; Directs/supervises the daily learning process and/or mentors teachers in the VA providing coaching and the daily performance expectation in systems, with families, and with students; Strives to proactively address identified needs and support VA efforts to improve student performance.
  • Provides instruction for teachers' daily activities through launch, communicates requirements, sets and enforces deadlines, maintains regular office hours and facilitates a learning laboratory to model instructional practice for teachers to support teachers and students.
  • Develops expert-level knowledge of the full K12 curriculum for assigned grade levels and is provides expert support for use of K12 curriculum to achieve student mastery of state standards; Ensures course content is optimized to meet standards mastery at depth of knowledge according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools.
  • Assumes ownership for student's academic progress and attendance, communicates high expectations and shows an active interest in student's achievement by prescribing daily required actions and activities for teachers with clear deadlines for completion throughout the day, establishes and maintains a positive rapport with families and teachers, conducts data driven conferences with teachers and administrators.
  • Supports teachers with curricular, instructional, and operational challenges while balancing the flexibility of the K12 curriculum with Academy policies, procedures, and accountability expectations.
  • Focuses on one or more ongoing tasks/projects related to managing school operations such as: recruiting/interviewing teaching candidates; training new teachers; implementing teacher evaluation processes; assisting with student-teacher matching; maintaining uniformity among teaching procedures; developing and implementing school policies/procedures; acting as a curriculum expert for a grade level/series of grade levels; coordinating aspects of testing readiness; assisting teachers in addressing low attendance and progress issues; preparing regular reports/facilitating communications across stakeholders; and assisting with marketing events.
