WORK HOURS: Seasonal; includes practices, competitions, meetings, and occasional evenings and weekends as required by the athletic schedule

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Athletic Coach supports Denver Christian School's mission by assisting in the development and leadership of a Christ-centered athletic program that promotes spiritual growth, character development, teamwork, and athletic excellence. This role assists with coaching, mentoring, and discipling student-athletes while supporting team operations and representing Denver Christian School with integrity and professionalism. Assistant Coaches play a key role in shaping student experiences by modeling faith, sportsmanship, and a commitment to "To God Be the Glory" in all aspects of competition.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Models a clear and consistent Christian faith and integrates biblical principles into coaching, competition, and team culture.
- Assists in discipling student-athletes through teaching, mentorship, and daily interactions grounded in a biblical worldview.
- Supports the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of student-athletes, recognizing each as a unique creation of God.
- Teaches athletes to demonstrate sportsmanship, integrity, respect, and perseverance in both victory and adversity.
- Assists in planning and executing effective practices that develop skill, teamwork, discipline, and competitive readiness.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of the sport and applies best practices in coaching, training, and player development.
- Supports team preparation to compete with excellence while rejecting a "win at all costs" mindset.
- Attends and assists with supervision of all scheduled practices, games, competitions, and team events.
- Assists with team calendar coordination, scheduling, registrations, and competition logistics.
- Supports uniform, warm-up, camp, and practice apparel coordination.
- Assists with competition logistics, including releases, schedules, and event details.
- Collaborates with the Head Coach and Athletic Director on program needs and season planning.
- Assists with team communications, updates, schedules, and reminders as directed by the Head Coach.
- Partners with families, students, and school staff to ensure clear and consistent communication.
- Manages or supports team social media content in alignment with school guidelines and branding.
- Assists with team-building and team-bonding activities, including themed practices and special traditions.
- Supports school spirit initiatives such as decorations, banners, and game-day elements.
- Identifies and coordinates opportunities for teams to serve, support, or represent the school at events and in the community.
- Assists in recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers as needed for team activities and events.

- Knowledge of the sport through playing and/or coaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior coaching or athletic mentoring experience.
- Experience mentoring or discipling students in a faith-based educational or athletic setting.
- Experience assisting with competitive team management.
