Position Details
The Position
Qualified candidates must possess a Master's Degree in School Counseling from an accredited university and a Michigan School Counselor Certificate (NT) and/or meet all State Board Continuing Education requirements. Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field are preferred.
The qualified candidate will primarily support students and staff at Holly Middle School, Holly High School, and the Broncho Virtual program, yet at times may provide assistance to the elementary buildings. The candidate will assist students in the processes of intellectual, social, and personal growth while supporting their efforts to make informed and individually appropriate social, educational, and vocational choices.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Possess knowledge and deep understanding of the Michigan Comprehensive Guidance Curriculum.
- Work closely with all students and their parents/guardians to plan, monitor, and understand the academic growth and development of the student.
- Engage with individual students for goal setting, scheduling consultation, and individual guidance.
- Guide all learners through MTSS tiered supports and PBIS implementation.
- Support students by providing individual and small group counseling as well as crisis counseling.
- Utilize peer mediation.
- Promote the school program with parents, students, and community members.
- Support District and Building systems through professional learning, consultation, collaboration and teaming.
- Assist in District and Building program management and operations, including Master Scheduling, New Student Orientation, Attendance Interventions.
- Facilitate in research, development, implementation, and coordination of academic and career programs, and school counseling related programs including scholarships and honors ceremonies.
- Monitor and evaluate courses, credits, and requirements for student graduation progress.
- Maintain records necessary for completing district and state testing.
- Develop and implement student interventions along with 504 accommodation plans.
- Utilize and coordinate the professional services of internal and external agencies.
- Build and maintain positive and effective relationships with all stakeholders.
- Use exceptional communication (written & verbal) using positive interpersonal skills.
- Access and utilize district technology resources to support student outcomes.
- Assist with and attend Commencement programs for HHS and BVS/EXCEL program.
- Complete all other duties assigned.
This position reports to the Building Principal and Executive Director of Educational Services.
