A Brief Overview

The High Acuity Clinical Nurse Educator is a professional Registered Nurse with in-depth scientific knowledge, technical expertise, skill and competency that serves as a business partner and resource in the patient care setting and supports nurse and clinical development and ongoing training initiatives. This position participates in the development of clinical education and programs that facilitate forward movement in high acuity health care. Acts as a change agent by suggesting new or innovative approaches based on evidence-based clinical practices that result in improvements in quality outcomes. This role actively collaborates in the entire orientation/onboarding process. This position focuses on High Acuity Services and liaises with the High Acuity Departments (ED, Critical Care, and PACU).

Education Qualifications

Bachelors Degree Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required Masters Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

5 years Direct care experience. Required 3 years Direct care nursing experience in a high acuity setting (ED, ICU, PICU, PACU, Cath Lab). Required Experience precepting or mentoring clinical staff. Required Experience developing or delivering training. Preferred Experience with EPIC computer system. Preferred

Certified Nurse Educator - NLN - Magnet Preferred Trauma Nursing Core Course - TNCC Preferred Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course - ENPC Preferred Certified Emergency Nurse - BCEN - Magnet Preferred Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse - ABPANC - Magnet Preferred FCCS/PFCCS- Fundamentals of Critical Care Support, Pediatric Fundamentals of Critical Care Support and CCRN - Critical Care RN Certification are preferred.

What you will do

Develops plans, presents educational activities within areas of expertise, and directly or indirectly fosters the development of competence in the learner. Act as the nurse expert and provide or coordinate education and training to nurses within the high acuity departments. Works with intra-or interdisciplinary teams, brainstorms and problem solves and participates in educational strategic planning. Ensures that educational activities are congruent with the organization's mission, vision and goals. Provides instruction according to defined course outline, utilizing principles of education appropriate to needs and age of the target population. Identifies follow-up needs of participants and facilitates meeting those needs. Supports the organization's Nurse Residency Program through development and delivery of education throughout the program, with special focus on the High Acuity Residency Track, specifically High Acuity Cluster courses, and ACCURATE simulation. Primary point of contact for collaboration in the development and delivery of high acuity education requested by the ED, CCUs, PICU, Cath Lab, and/or PACU. Acts as a subject matter expert on procedures, medications, and equipment in high acuity areas including, but not limited to: ventilators, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, ventriculostomy drains, post-CABG care, Hemosphere, Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Advanced Stroke Care, CPR, and Vasopressors.
