Heavy Truck Technician - Emergency Vehicles
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Heavy Truck Technician with expertise in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing emergency vehicles and other specialized heavy-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics, advanced diagnostic skills, and a commitment to ensuring the reliability and safety of critical emergency equipment. This role requires precision, adherence to strict safety standards, and the ability to work under pressure to meet urgent operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on emergency vehicles, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and specialized equipment (e.g., sirens, lighting, and communication systems).
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA, DOT, or local emergency vehicle standards).
- Troubleshoot complex systems using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure rapid and accurate repairs.
- Maintain and repair critical components such as pumps, aerial ladders, and other emergency-specific systems unique to fire trucks and ambulances.
- Collaborate with fleet managers and emergency service personnel to prioritize repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Document all maintenance, repairs, and inspections in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in emergency vehicle technology and participate in ongoing training as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
