Job Summary:
The Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator (Class A or B) is critical to the success of the grading crews, and establishes the foundation for heavy highway/road construction projects. To be successful, the heavy equipment operator must have the ability to operate various types of equipment including dozers, GPS motor grader, and various sized excavators, etc. The operator must read and adjust gauges, dials, and other indicators and adjust accordingly, troubleshoot and service equipment, ability to read blueprints and level to grade, adjust machine settings or material flow, and indicate low spots for workers to add material, proactively communicate with foreman, superintendent and co-workers. Must keep equipment and material clean and stored in a safe manner. May be required to work in all types of adverse conditions such as extreme weather, enclosed spaces, and heights up to 80 feet.
