Position Summary:

As a Heavy Equipment & Automotive Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of construction machinery (excavators, bulldozers, loaders, etc.) as well as company-owned vehicles (pickup trucks, service vans, etc.). This position includes shop and field work, supporting multiple job sites and ensuring minimal equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment and light-to-medium duty vehicles.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) on diesel and gas-powered machines and vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
  • Perform field service repairs on job sites as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate clearly with equipment operators, supervisors, and fleet managers.
  • Maintain and organize tools, shop equipment, and work areas.

Types of Equipment & Vehicles You'll Work On:

  • Excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, skid steers
  • Graders, compactors, water trucks, generators
  • Pickup trucks (gas and diesel), service vans, flatbeds
  • Trailers and small engine equipment

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment and/or automotive mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors, and operate in physically demanding conditions
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance logging and diagnostics
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and safety-conscious
