Why This Role Matters
 
The Heavy‑Duty Tow Truck Supervisor oversees daily heavy and light duty towing and recovery operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant performance across all drivers, equipment, and job assignments. This role provides leadership, training, and operational support while maintaining high standards of customer service, safety, and professionalism.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Supervise heavy‑duty & light Duty tow truck drivers, including scheduling, performance management, coaching, and discipline.
  • Assign and prioritize calls, recoveries, transports, and specialized jobs based on driver skill, equipment needs, and urgency.
  • Oversee accident recoveries, complex load shifts, winch‑outs, and specialized heavy‑duty operations.
  • Ensure all drivers follow company policies, DOT regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct field inspections of trucks, equipment, rigging, and job sites to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Provide hands‑on support during major recoveries, multi‑vehicle incidents, or high‑risk situations.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, motor clubs, commercial clients, and internal dispatch teams.
  • Review driver logs, job tickets, timesheets, and incident reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with training programs for new heavy‑duty drivers, including equipment operation, rigging, and recovery techniques.
  • Monitor fleet readiness, reporting maintenance needs and ensuring trucks and equipment remain in safe working condition.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance customer satisfaction.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years of heavy/light duty towing or recovery experience; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy‑duty tow trucks, rotators, rigging, load securement, and recovery procedures.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and coach drivers in a fast‑paced, high‑risk environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with drivers, dispatch, management, and external partners.
  • Ability to interpret DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Valid CDL (A or B) preferred; clean driving record required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout tow yard and recovery sites.
  • Ability to lift or move rigging, chains, straps, and equipment up to 40–50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb in/out of heavy‑duty trucks and step onto uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and crouch during inspections or recovery support.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and high‑noise environments.
  • Ability to remain alert and responsive during emergency or high‑stress operations.
