Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician — Fleet Maintenance
Location: Huntsville, Alabama | Work Location: In person
A day in this role
Start your shift in our Huntsville shop, review work orders, and prioritize critical fleet needs. You’ll run full-vehicle inspections on Class 8 equipment, dive into engine and electrical diagnostics with OEM manuals and wiring diagrams, and turn wrenches on everything from brakes and suspensions to hydraulics and HVAC. Whether you’re aligning a steer axle, welding a cracked bracket, or chasing an intermittent electrical fault with a multimeter, your craftsmanship keeps our trucks safe, reliable, and ready to roll.
What you’ll do
- Perform end-to-end inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on semi trucks: engines, transmissions, air brake systems, suspensions, hydraulics, electrical, and HVAC.
- Handle preventive maintenance—oil and filter changes, tire service, alignments, and fluid exchanges—to extend vehicle life and uptime.
- Use schematics, technical manuals, and electronic testing tools to pinpoint and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Fabricate and repair components with hand and power tools, welding equipment, and precision fabrication techniques as needed.
- Follow and uphold safety procedures and regulations governing heavy equipment maintenance and shop operations.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing semi trucks or heavy-duty vehicles in an industrial or dealership environment.
- Deep knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and shocks & struts.
- Proficiency with diagnostics using schematics, wiring diagrams, and electronic test instruments.
- Skilled with hand tools, power tools, welding gear, soldering techniques, and assembly processes.
- Background in tire work, wheel alignment procedures, brake service, and general fleet maintenance best practices.
