Overview:ADF International, a North American leader in the design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of complex steel structures and modular construction, is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic for our steel fabrication plant in Great Falls, Montana.  The ideal candidate will have experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on all types of trucks, forklifts, and telehandlers.

General Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance duties in line with established preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance activities using appropriately assigned schedule.
  • Monitor and maintain all yard equipment and other trucks as assigned.
  • Perform the periodic inspection of the yard equipment and trucks.
  • Repair and troubleshoot various engines.
  • Advise Yard Foreman and provide recommendation for repairs needed.
  • Road test vehicles as needed for quality assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate company safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in adequate safety and working conditions.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • All other related tasks and duties.

Education, Training, or Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 2-3 years’ experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment.

Knowledge:

  • Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all heavy-duty components.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Perform effective diagnostic testing and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand/walk for 10 hours at a time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel for varying lengths of time.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools as needed.
  • Ability to fully articulate shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist.
  • Must be able to occasionally push, pull, lift, or carry up to 75lbs.
  • Must be able to work in various conditions (loud, hot, dusty, cold, etc.).
  • Able to ascend/descend ladders as needed.
