The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. The selected candidate will also serve as the Director of the LVAD and MCS program. Expertise is required in the specific area of training in VAD and Pulmonary Hypertension. Subspeciality training with demonstrated skills is required in advanced heart failure: LVAD and MCS. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Heart Failure is required.



Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, a premier tertiary care hospital within the University of Pennsylvania Health System, is seeking a full-time, board-certified Heart Failure Cardiologist to serve as Director of the LVAD and MCS program. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in the management of mechanical circulatory support (MCS), as well as a strong interest in program development, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.



The selected candidate will be expected to serve as a mentor and leader. Previous leadership experience is a plus.



Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and supervision of medical students and residents, including training of cardiovascular fellows. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching.



Clinical responsibilities may include serving as Medical Director for the LVAD/MCS Program, overseeing patient selection, perioperative management, and long-term care.





+ Managing the cardiogenic shock and mechanical circulatory support program.



+ Collaborating closely with cardiothoracic surgery, transplant, critical care, and other specialties to identify patient candidates and optimize outcomes.



+ Leading efforts to enhance programmatic quality, efficiency, and volume, with a focus on growth and national excellence.



+ Contributing to transplant evaluation and management, with flexibility in the degree of involvement based on candidate interests.



+ Outpatient office care, inpatient consultations at Penn Presbyterian as well as affiliated satellite offices.
