Heart and Vascular COE System Director – Deaconess Health System

We are seeking a Heart and Vascular COE System Director to provide strategic leadership for our Cardiology Service Line and Cardiology Ancillary Services.

Job Summary:

The Heart and Vascular COE System Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of the Cardiology Service Line and associated ancillary departments. This position ensures compliance with patient care quality standards for patients across the lifespan—from neonates to geriatrics.

The Director oversees performance improvement initiatives, participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, ensures staff competency, manages departmental budgets, and maintains operational efficiency in compliance with HFAP, state, federal, and local regulatory standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with hospital administration to plan, organize, and direct Cardiology operations and the CV Service Line.
  • Conduct rounds to ensure department compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Oversee preparation and management of department budgets.
  • Facilitate clear communication with hospital staff, physicians, and leadership teams.
  • Delegate authority and responsibilities to staff to ensure effective operations.
  • Implement, interpret, and enforce policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees and initiatives.
  • Lead performance improvement and CQI activities across the service line.
  • Oversee staff education with emphasis on patient safety and organizational performance improvement.
  • Work closely with the Practice Director/Administrator for Ambulatory Practice to ensure seamless operations.
  • Serve as a professional resource for patients, families, and Patient Relations to address concerns efficiently.
  • Engage with physicians and clinical staff to optimize patient care and outcomes.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, heath care administration or related field or equivalent education and experience.  MBA or MHA preferred.  

  • Five years leadership experience required; hospital management and Heart and Vascular experience preferred.
