Hearing Instrument Specialist (Licensed)

Employment Type: Part-Time Temporary. Temporary to Permanent possible

About Us

Holyoke Medical Center is a community-focused, not-for-profit healthcare organization serving a diverse, multicultural population across Hampshire and Hampden County. Our Speech & Hearing department provides comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative hearing care within a collaborative, interdisciplinary hospital environment. We prioritize quality, access, and continuity of care over high-volume sales, integrating hearing health into the broader continuum of patient wellness.

Position Summary

The Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist will provide patient-centered hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and follow-up care in alignment with hospital standards and state licensure requirements. The role works closely with audiologists and other clinical teams to deliver coordinated care for outpatient populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive hearing aid assessments and hearing aid fittings.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding hearing loss, device use, and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with audiologists, otolaryngologists, and primary care providers to ensure integrated care.
  • Manage follow-up appointments, adjustments, and repair coordination.
  • Document services accurately within the hospital's electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital, state, and federal regulations governing hearing aid dispensing.

Qualifications

  • Active Hearing Instrument Specialist license (Massachusetts) required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare or audiology setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a multicultural patient base and varied payor mix.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and clinical documentation skills.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to patient advocacy.

REQUIREMENTS: Associates Degree; Massachusetts Hearing Instrument Specialist license

We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and hospital benefits.
  • Access to leading-edge technology and collaborative interdisciplinary support.
  • Regular daytime hours within a stable, hospital-based practice setting.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
