We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Healthcare Benefits Manager to oversee all aspects of the company’s employee health and welfare benefits programs.
This role is responsible for selecting and managing benefit plans, working with brokers and carriers, handling benefits contracts, and serving as a key point of contact for employee benefits questions and issues. The ideal candidate brings strong benefits expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex plans with clarity and care.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all company health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and ancillary benefits
Evaluate current benefits offerings and recommend plan designs that balance cost, coverage, and employee needs
Lead benefits renewals, plan selection, and negotiations with carriers and brokers
Ensure benefits programs remain competitive and compliant
Manage relationships with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators
Review, negotiate, and maintain healthcare benefits contracts
Monitor service levels, performance, and billing accuracy
Ensure timely renewals and accurate documentation
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and issues
Assist employees with enrollment, qualifying life events, claims escalation, and coverage concerns
Develop and deliver benefits communications, guides, and enrollment materials
Lead open enrollment processes and employee education sessions
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and other applicable laws
Oversee benefits administration, enrollment systems, and data accuracy
Coordinate benefits reporting and audits as needed
Partner with HR and payroll to ensure accurate deductions and records
Analyze benefits utilization and costs
Prepare reports on benefits performance, trends, and recommendations
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control rising healthcare costs
Qualifications:
Proven experience managing healthcare and employee benefits programs
Strong knowledge of health insurance plans and benefits compliance requirements
Experience working with brokers, carriers, and benefits vendors
Ability to explain complex benefits information clearly and compassionately
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
High level of discretion and confidentiality
Background in healthcare or multi-state organizations
Experience managing benefits for a growing workforce
Familiarity with benefits administration platforms and HR systems
Professional certification such as CEBS, SHRM-CP, or PHR preferred
