Job Overview:
As a paid Healthcare Assistant Apprentice, sophomores will gain a blend of classroom learning and real-world healthcare experience. This program is designed to introduce students to healthcare early while building foundational knowledge and hands-on exposure.
Students will:
Participate in job shadowing and clinical experiences across multiple healthcare settings
Support care teams while exploring a variety of career paths
Attend on-site coursework and training in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College
Build confidence in a professional healthcare environment
Begin preparing for industry-recognized certifications while still in high school
This opportunity is exclusively for current high school sophomores who are interested in pursuing a future in healthcare and want to get an early start.
What You Will Need:
Currently enrolled in high school
No prior healthcare experience required - this is a learning-based apprenticeship opportunity
Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
Willingness to learn in both classroom and clinical environments
Strong communication and teamwork skills
What You will Earn:
Students will obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Students will also be completing dual-credit courses, such as Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Introduction to Psychology from Ivy Tech.
Upon successful completion of the Healthcare Assistant apprenticeship, students will earn the Employment Honors Plus Seal and an industry-recognized Healthcare Assistant Certificate.
