BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Coordinates the activities of the multi-disciplinary patient care team related to the provision of patient care. Performs administrative work appropriate for patient care that supports the hospital unit operation and the health care team. Ensures the overall efficient functioning/flow of the clinical unit/specialty area utilizing both verbal and written communication skills; employing technical skills to manage patient related data/processes and performing general receptionist and clerical duties.
Minimum Work Experience: 6 months experience or training required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to interpret and document information accurately.
Must demonstrate effective organizational and prioritization skills as well as the ability to maintain productivity with interruptions.
Must be able to effectively deal with a variety of individuals and hospital systems.
Medical terminology preferred, computer skills required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates proficiency with administrative, clerical and technical skills/knowledge.
Demonstrates strong organizational abilities.
Maintains appropriate level of productivity/work output while flexing to focus on immediate priorities.
Demonstrates commitment to continued professional development through active participation in continuing education activities and staff meetings.
Demonstrates the following skills in accordance with unit standards and expectations: Creative problem solving, critical thinking, organizational skills, appropriate prioritization, utilized appropriate lines of authority, and responds in emergency situations.
Serves as the designated CBISA reporter for the department. Reports benefit activities, communicates benefit stories, calculates event detail and enters information into Lyon Software (CBISA) program. Completes reports monthly with an understanding that all fiscal year entries be completed no later than August 1 of the next fiscal year.
Obtains and handles medications as per policy.
Demonstrates strong and consistent communication skills.
Demonstrates appropriate concern for patient confidentiality.
Continuously displays a positive attitude within the department and across departmental lines.
Assists with new HUC orientation to the computer and unit-specific duties.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Utilizes hospital and departmental resources/time respectfully and accountably.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 pounds frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure for lifting or moving of up to 100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
