Health Technician (Shared Campus Role – AMS Power & AMS Mesa)

AMS Mesa: Mesa, AZ (Travel between both campuses required)
Employment Classification: Full-Time
Compensation: $15.00–$17.00 per hour, based on experience
Start Date: ASAP
This is a full-time, on-site position supporting both AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses.
Position Summary
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Health Technician to support the health, safety, and well-being of students across both the AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses.
This shared position is responsible for providing daily student health services, administering medications in accordance with school policies, maintaining accurate health records, supporting state compliance requirements, and collaborating with families, healthcare providers, and campus staff. The Health Technician will travel between both campuses to ensure consistent, high-quality health services and compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Student Health Services
Provide first aid and care for students experiencing illness or injury while assessing the need for additional medical attention.
Administer prescription and over-the-counter medications in accordance with school policies, physician orders, and state regulations.
Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, medications, and health concerns.
Support students with chronic health conditions and individualized healthcare needs.
Assist with emergency response procedures and campus health-related incidents.
Health Records & Compliance
Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant student health records, including immunization records, medication logs, health office visits, and required documentation.
Conduct vision and hearing screenings and complete all required state reporting.
Create, maintain, and audit Arizona student health records to ensure compliance with state regulations.
Assist with health office audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational health policies and procedures.
Health Office Operations
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary health office at both campus locations.
Monitor inventory levels for medical supplies, first aid materials, and medications; coordinate timely ordering and restocking.
Maintain accurate documentation of health office activities and required reports.
Support the implementation of campus health initiatives and wellness programs.
Collaboration & Campus Support
Serve as a liaison between students, families, healthcare providers, community agencies, and school staff.
Partner with administrators, teachers, and support staff at both campuses to address student health needs.
Travel regularly between AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses to provide consistent health services and operational support.
Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and health-related trainings.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support campus operations.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Certified Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required.
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a school, pediatric, or clinical healthcare setting.
Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of student health procedures, medication administration, and confidentiality requirements.
Excellent organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health recordkeeping systems.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive student information.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced school environment.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly between assigned campuses.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a K–12, charter school, or Title I educational environment.
Experience with Arizona school health compliance and reporting requirements.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Experience supporting multiple school sites or campuses.
Working Conditions
Full-time, on-site position supporting both AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses.
Daily travel between campuses based on operational needs.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Frequent interaction with students, families, staff, and healthcare professionals.
Exposure to common childhood illnesses and routine medical situations.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during medical emergencies.
