Position Summary
The Health Sciences Lab Technician will provide laboratory assistance and support the Health Sciences Department. The Health Sciences Lab Technician performs laboratory and administrative work. The Health Sciences Lab Technician will adhere to the policies as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
Salary: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees
Local Salary "L" Schedule - Part-Time, maximum of (19) hours per week
Hourly Wage Range is RN- $30.00 per hour
LPN-$25.00 per hour
Continuation of position is contingent upon grant funding.
Work Hours: Maximum of (19) hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Health Sciences Lab Technician shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty/Staff Handbook.
Setting up and breaking down skills and simulation labs for student and faculty use
Ensures that skills and simulation labs are well-organized, clean, sanitized and orderly at all times
Management of supply inventory, ordering and restocking supplies to support skills and simulation education activities
Skills and Simulation equipment maintenance:
Cleaning, quality assurance checks, requesting repair
Supervise student lab assistants who perform supportive lab tasks such as recycling supplies, assisting with lab set-ups
Assist with facilitation of skills and simulation logistics such as scheduling, room assignments, equipment allocation, student daily schedules, etc.
Facilitating use of lab technology incorporated into educational activities such as moving, turning on and running simulators and mannequins.
Facilitation of student open lab times
Provide clerical support to the faculty
Perform other work-related responsibilities assigned by the Division Chair, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and/or President.
