Join a leader in advanced EV batteries. www.lgenergymi.comAs the Manager of Health & Safety, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site safety programs by using your experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control chemical, mechanical, electrical, ergonomic, and other workplace hazards. This role serves as the subject‑matter expert for Health & Safety, ensuring consistent application of company standards, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, risk reduction, and a strong safety‑first culture across all operations.ResponsibilitiesAccountable for achieving strategic objectives in team member safety, environmental protection, and loss preventionLead implementation of safety programs, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, workers' compensation reduction initiatives, and required recordkeepingEnsure plant‑wide compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulationsEnsure timely communication of safety, environmental, and compliance matters to plant operations and corporate leadershipConduct ad hoc compliance audits and site assessments as neededBuild and promote a company culture that prioritizes safety, protects employees, improves processes, and enhances key metrics such as Incident Rate Ratio (IRR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR)Ensure effective hazard identification, risk mitigation, and corrective actions for plant operations and administrative officesManage, coach, and develop the Health & Safety teamEstablish, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for team and site performanceProvide coaching, mentoring, and career development planning for direct reportsConduct daily safety walks to verify safe work practices and identify unsafe acts, faulty equipment, or policy non‑complianceEnsure prompt follow‑up and closure of corrective actions identified through audits, inspections, or incidentsOversee all required environmental reporting related to air, chemical, waste, and water complianceOrganize Health & Safety training programs and maintain required records, certifications, and documentationLead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and preventive action implementationSupport emergency response planning, drills, and crisis preparedness activitiesPartner cross‑functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HR, and leadership to improve safety performanceConduct thorough and timely Layered Process Audits (LPA) in assigned work areasMaintain cleanliness at the worksite in accordance with 5S3R Standards:Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, SustainRight Location, Right Quantity, Right ContainerPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent relevant experienceBoard of Certified Safety Professionals CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferredStrong knowledge of occupational safety regulations, environmental compliance, and risk management systemsExperience7 to 10+ years of experience evaluating, leading, and improving safety programs in a manufacturing environment3 to 6+ years of leadership experience managing a Health & Safety team in a manufacturing environmentExperience with regulatory inspections, audits, workers' compensation, and incident managementKnowledge of advanced manufacturing technology, chemicals, pneumatic, and industrial systems preferredExperience in high‑volume production environments preferredSkillsComfortable presenting to and partnering with senior leadershipAbility to manage ambiguity and make sound business decisionsEffective workflow, project, and process management skillsStrong planning skills with clear communication of prioritiesAbility to delegate effectively and lead teams to meet goalsStrong knowledge of OSHA and applicable state/local regulations and requirementsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPointStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to work flexible hours as needed to support all production shiftsAbility to work flexible hours as needed to coordinate with headquarters and global sitesEqual Opportunity EmployerLG Energy Solution is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.#J-18808-Ljbffr
