Job Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health (DOH). This position is located in the Department of Health (DOH), Health Systems and Preparedness Administration (HSPA). The incumbent effectively compiles and distributes pertinent information to licenses and other health care professionals, professional organizations and associations, healthcare providers, facilities, and the public. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing and approving applications, interviewing one-on-one with professionals via telephone calls and/or face-to-face, providing administrative support to health licensing boards, communicating with health care professionals, regulatory and health organizations, and assisting licensees with the application process.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and approves licensure applications of health professionals in a timely manner in accordance with relevant statutes, regulations, and board policy of the DC Health. Establishes and maintains necessary and helpful communications with individuals and organizations involved with the regulation of health professionals in the District of Columbia and other jurisdictions. Provides administrative support to assigned health licensing boards. Participate in the development of application forms for licensure applications for health professionals. Notifies applicants in a timely manner of application deficiencies and application closure. Updates the DC Health''s contracted computer system to accurately reflect the status of applications and licenses. Provides timely and professional administrative support to assigned health licensing boards, including, but not limited to, preparing and mailing of meeting agenda; arranging meeting space and necessary equipment; preparing minutes of board meetings; and preparing correspondence as requested by assigned health licensing boards and professional organizations.
Performs timely and accurate research of regulatory issues at the request of health licensing boards. Establishes and maintains necessary and helpful communications with individuals and organizations involved in or concerned with the regulation of health professionals in the District of Columbia. Attend board meetings assigned to provide assistance by performing interpretive, administrative and support function as required, including the presentations of organizations involved in or concerned with the regulation of health professionals. Attends professional/organizational meetings and conferences. Administers board examinations. Arranges for honoraria and other reimbursement forms for board members in accordance with applicable policies. Assists in the development or amendment of regulations for assigned health boards. Prepare drafts of board newsletters for review by the Executive Director and relevant health licensing board. Assists in the orientation of new board members and in arranging and holding conferences, seminars and briefings, which pertains to board activities. Communicates to the office supervisor in a timely fashion on administrative, resource and programmatic issues as appropriate. Always maintains a pleasant and professional demeanor with the public and co-workers. Represents the DC Health and the assigned health professional licensing board when communicating legal requirements and polices in an accurate and professional manner. Participates in programs that enhance growth and development.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Working Conditions / Environment
The incumbent must be able to carry out official duties in a variety of settings and conditions. Routine work will occur primarily in an office setting.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by AFGE Local 2725 and you may be required to pay an agency fee (dues) through direct payroll.
Position Designation: This position has been designated as Security Sensitive. Pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations; in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying security sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:

(d) Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test; and
