Position Summary
The Health Information Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential patient health records in compliance with healthcare documentation standards and regulatory requirements. This role supports medical records operations through record management, reporting, document processing, and coordination with internal departments.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of health information management and medical records procedures
- Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid regulations and patient confidentiality requirements
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify incomplete or missing documentation
- Proficiency in word processing and general office software applications
- Strong organizational, communication, and record management skills
- Ability to accurately gather, classify, and maintain detailed information and records
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 9 months of experience or coursework in records management preferred
- Minimum of 3 months of experience or coursework in medical terminology preferred
- Typing and data entry experience required
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
