Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

  • The Health Information Management Analyst is responsible for performing the analysis of all Inpatient, Observation, ED (Emergency Department), Outpatient SDC (Surgical Day Center), Endoscopy, and Pain Management records to ensure the quality and completeness of clinical documentation as required by CMS Conditions of Participation. Will review records for accuracy of clinical authentication and proper assignment of documentation by providers. Will assign deficiencies to providers to facilitate completion of records, assisting in the Physician Suspension process. Responsible for processing requests for Release of Information in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws. Scan, perform quality checks and incorporate and validate paper records into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, as needed.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks as warranted and appropriate
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English; positive interpersonal communication dynamic with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to clearly, accurately and professionally present and explain complex information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Detail oriented with the ability to problem-solve using creative and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, handle interruptions and work effectively in a fast-paced, professional environment.
  • Requires outstanding oral and written communication skills in working with all stakeholders, including providers, internal and external customers, peers and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in technology usage, including Microsoft office programs
  • Ability to operate general office equipment to include personal computer, CD burner, scanner, printer, telephone, fax and copy machine.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer or system failures with IT to resolve downtime situations timely
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, while maintaining optimal quality and productivity of work
  • Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:
  • One or more years of office/clerical/computer experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in the Health Information Management Department.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Experience in Meditech and Cerner a plus

Educational Requirements:

  • High School graduate, with Associates Degree preferred.

License/Certification:

  • RHIT preferred

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
