Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety operations at a HAZWOPER site. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing emergency response efforts, and fostering a culture of safety. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and excellent interpersonal skills to protect workers, the public, and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and other applicable regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Lead emergency response efforts including chemical spills, fires, and medical emergencies.
- Serve as Incident Commander or Safety Officer during emergency events.
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Deliver HAZWOPER and emergency response training to site personnel.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records and report performance metrics.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field or 8 years of related field and management experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in hazardous waste or emergency response environments.
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour supervisor/refresher as applicable
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations.
- Experience with emergency response planning and incident command systems (ICS).
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification
- ICS/NIMS Training
