Position Summary
The Varsity Head Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the girls basketball program. The coach will foster a positive, competitive, and educational environment that promotes student-athlete growth, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and academic success while supporting the mission and values of the school district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Organize, direct, and supervise all aspects of the varsity girls basketball program.
- Develop and communicate a clear vision and philosophy for the program.
- Promote a culture of positivity, respect, integrity, accountability, and effort.
- Support and maintain our Cudahy core values initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and WIAA rules and regulations.
- Attend all pertinent athletic department, conference, and WIAA meetings.
- Represent the school and athletic department in a professional manner.
Student-Athlete Development
- Teach and develop basketball fundamentals, skills, and game strategies.
- Promote character development, leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
- Support and monitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Encourage multi-sport participation when appropriate and support the overall athletic experience of students.
Staff Supervision
- Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches in accordance with district procedures.
- Conduct regular meetings with coaching staff to ensure alignment within the program.
- Promote consistency in coaching philosophy throughout all levels of the girls basketball program.
Program Management
- Plan and conduct practices, games, camps, clinics, and off-season development opportunities.
- Coordinate team travel, scheduling, equipment, uniforms, and facility usage.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and ensure proper care of facilities.
- Assist with budget management and fundraising activities as approved by the athletic department.
Communication and Community Relations
- Maintain positive communication with student-athletes, parents, school staff, officials, and community members.
- Attend parent meetings and provide regular program updates.
- Build positive relationships with youth basketball programs and community organizations.
- Promote the girls basketball program within the school and community.
Safety and Risk Management
- Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes.
- Enforce team rules and district policies.
- Follow all emergency procedures and concussion protocols.
- Ensure proper supervision of student-athletes at all times.
