Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach. Consistently ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by U.S. News & World Report, Rose-Hulman recognizes intercollegiate athletics as an essential part of a well-rounded student experience. This position provides an opportunity to lead and grow a collegiate softball program while cultivating a strong, positive team culture centered on accountability, connection, and shared commitment, and mentoring student-athletes to achieve excellence, integrity, and inclusion both on and off the field.

As Head Softball Coach, you will provide leadership in recruiting and cultivate a competitive softball program that delivers a positive and impactful student‑athlete experience. You will serve as a visible ambassador for the Institute, enhancing public relations and program exposure while preparing the team for HCAC and non‑conference competition with the goal of achieving national competitiveness.

You will ensure full compliance with all NCAA, HCAC, and Institute policies while planning and directing comprehensive team and individual training programs. Responsibilities include leading team practices and conditioning sessions; evaluating student‑athlete performance; determining competitive participation; scouting opponents; developing game strategies; and supervising an Assistant Coach. You will also collaborate closely with athletic trainers and departmental staff, including equipment, sports information, and facilities personnel.

In this role, you will lead all aspects of recruiting by identifying, evaluating, and managing prospective student‑athletes through a comprehensive, year‑round recruitment strategy. This includes conducting official and unofficial visits; evaluating high school, club, and collegiate programs domestically and internationally; and finalizing athlete selections aligned with program goals and institutional values.

As an integral contributor to student success, you will support student‑athletes' academic achievement, facilitate connections with campus and departmental resources, and serve as a departmental spokesperson while providing leadership within the local community and beyond. You will also oversee team scheduling, logistics, and extensive travel planning, including transportation of student‑athletes and equipment.

You will manage the program's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while making purchasing recommendations to the Athletic Director. Through consistent communication and engagement, you will cultivate relationships with alumni and supporters and collaborate with the Office of Institutional Advancement to support fundraising efforts. As Head Softball Coach, you will model exemplary sportsmanship, professionalism, and ethical conduct in alignment with the mission and values of Rose‑Hulman Institute of Technology.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in a sports related field and two to three years playing and/or coaching experience or a bachelor's degree in a non-sports related field and four to five years playing and/or coaching experience. Qualified candidates will also have a valid driver's license with an acceptable MVR (motor vehicle report).

In addition to these qualifications, preferred applicants will have a master's degree and Division III coaching experience.

At Rose-Hulman, your successes are celebrated in a welcoming, supportive, and flexible environment with a number of benefits and resources including a variety of health benefit options; voluntary benefits such as Group Accident and/or Group Critical Illness Insurance, Pet Insurance, and Caregiver Resources; participation in Tuition Exchange; a generous and flexible paid leave program and dedicated time for professional development. As a Rose-Hulman employee, you will also enjoy access to full-service fitness facilities and programming; a performing arts center featuring national touring acts and campus productions; and access to state-of-the-art labs, facilities, and equipment. All employees experience opportunities to have an impact on student lives and be part of a greater purpose through multidisciplinary project collaboration that can have a global impact as well as receiving continual encouragement and support of philanthropic and volunteer opportunities.
