Oxford Solutions is working with a manufacturing client seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to lead strategic sourcing and direct procurement operations across a complex manufacturing environment. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a procurement professional with deep expertise sourcing critical manufacturing components and building high-performing procurement teams.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in direct materials procurement within industrial or manufacturing environments, along with proven success developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving operational improvements across the supply chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead direct procurement and strategic sourcing initiatives for key manufacturing components and raw materials
  • Develop sourcing strategies focused on cost optimization, supplier performance, quality, and risk mitigation
  • Manage and mentor a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers across procurement operations
  • Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships while negotiating pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and executive leadership teams to align procurement strategy with business goals
  • Oversee procurement activities related to fabricated steel, motors, gear boxes, shafts, and other industrial manufacturing components
  • Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, and industry trends to support sourcing decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes, systems, and reporting
  • Ensure procurement activities support production schedules, inventory targets, and operational efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in direct procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong strategic sourcing experience with complex manufacturing components and materials
  • Previous leadership experience managing procurement teams
  • Experience with ERP and supply chain systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels within a fast-paced manufacturing organization
  • CIPS, CPSM, CPM or other related certifications a plus
